Expansion at St. Anthony's Catholic School Kincardine

Please see below for the official media release provided by MPP Lisa Thompson:
As part of Ontario's ongoing efforts to build and improve local schools, the province has given Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board approval to tender an addition to St. Anthony’s School in Kincardine.

The $10.7 million investment will provide a new, quality learning environment for the students, as well as new child care rooms. This project is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces.

“The funding for this addition to St. Anthony’s School is great news for the community,” said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson. “This investment will provide a quality learning environment and state-of- the-art facility for the students and staff while also providing new spaces and rooms for pre-schoolers.”
Highlights of the addition include:
  • 190 elementary student spaces.
  • 78 new licensed child care spaces.
  • 4 new child care rooms.
  • New gymnasium, bus route, parking, and office
Lori Di Castri, Chair of the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board, is happy the news is now official. “The Ontario government’s investment in St. Anthony’s School is a welcomed announcement,” she said. “The Kincardine area has continued to grow and flourish and as a result, St. Anthony’s school has been over capacity for a number of years. Staff and students have been creatively using every corner of the school and have lost some outdoor space to portables. Investing in our Catholic schools is an investment in our students and in our community. Partnerships with Bruce-Grey CDSB will be strengthened as we continue to offer our students and community an even better learning environment for each to grow.”

Gary O’Donnell, Director of Education, agreed. “This is an important day for St. Anthony Catholic School, The BGCDSB, and the Kincardine Community. This project will position St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School to support our growing community, ensure that we have an updated and modern facility to provide a space for a quality Catholic Education for the years to come.”

Ontario’s investment in new and updated schools will create the foundation for a modern learning environment for thousands of students across the province.

“After a decade of school closures, hard-working Kincardine parents need child care spaces and Kincardine students deserve modern classrooms,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our construction of the addition to St. Anthony’s School is part of our government’s $14 billion commitment over ten years to build new schools, improve existing facilities and expand child care.”

St. Anthony’s School is located at 709 Russell Street, Kincardine.
