Community Partners Unite to Bring a New Child Care Centre to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Teeswater

This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to supporting families and strengthening the community by increasing access to high-quality, local child care. By working together, these partners are responding to a well-documented child care shortage and ensuring that more families have access to safe, reliable, and nurturing care close to home.

Participation in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system will help make child care more affordable for families, with reduced fees that support greater access to high-quality early learning. This initiative aligns with the partners’ shared goal of removing barriers and guarantees more children can benefit from local child care services.

Renovations to create a welcoming child care space will take place over the summer months at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Teeswater, with the centre scheduled to open in Fall 2026. The program will be operated by Little Cubs Learning Centre, a licensed child care organization recognized for its high-quality early learning environments, strong family partnerships, and a child-centred approach grounded in inquiry, relationships, and purposeful play.

“BGCDSB is deeply committed to supporting families and responding to the needs of our community. Partnerships like this reflect our long‑term vision of collaboration, inclusion, and investment in the well‑being of children and those who care for them.” said Lori DiCastri, BGCDSB Chair of Board of Trustees “By coming together, we are able to create effective and meaningful solutions that support children and families, both now and into the future.”

“At Little Cubs Learning Centre, we see early childhood as the foundation for how children learn, think, and engage with the world. Our programs are intentionally designed to go beyond care, focusing on building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning through responsive relationships and inquiry-based experiences. Building on our established experience in delivering licensed child care programs, this new location allows us to extend that impact to more families within the Teeswater and surrounding communities.” says Karishma and Rohan Kittur, Founders of Little Cubs Learning Centre. “We are proud to partner with the Sacred Heart Catholic School, the Municipality of South Bruce, and the County of Bruce to bring high-quality, licensed child care into the heart of this community. This expansion reflects our commitment to increasing access to exceptional early learning environments that support both children and families in meaningful ways.  As we continue to grow, Little Cubs is focused on redefining what high-quality child care looks like by combining strong leadership, intentional programming, and innovative practices that better support educators, children, and families.”

“This new child care centre reflects a shared commitment to supporting families by increasing access to high-quality, child care," says Mayor Goetz. “Investing in the future of our youngest residents provides families with peace of mind and provides the services needed to build a strong and thriving community.”

“The expansion of child care spaces in the CWELCC system will provide up to 19 child care spaces and increase access to affordable child care for the Municipality of South Bruce. This community partnership fosters important early learning opportunities within a supportive, community-focused environment connected to Sacred Heart Catholic School” said Claire Dodds, Commissioner of Community Development for Bruce County.
