Over the last three years, the highlight of this tournament is the
diversity of the regions and levels of classification in which teams
have come to compete. Over this time, SHHS has hosted teams from
Sudbury, North Bay, Guelph, Brantford, London, Windsor, Kitchener,
and Owen Sound. This tournament has prided itself in bringing together
competition from all over Ontario so that a new experience is provided
for all coaches and players.
The tournament has been known for some dramatic
shoot-out victories, as no game during round-robin play
can end in a draw. Rather all games are decided by a
shoot-out if they are tied after regulation.
For the last two years, Sacred Heart has battled with
OSCVI for the “Shoot-out” title. Unfortunately, Sacred
Heart entered 2006's tournament as defending champions but came
up short in the final to OSCVI by a score of 2-1. SHHS and OSCVI
have played eight matches between each other over the last three
years, and they have built up quite a rivalry. However, with some
new teams in this year's tournament (some having already qualified
for OFSAA), SHHS will be hard-pressed to match their previous two
performances. Regardless, the Crusader boys are up to the task of
making it to the finals for the third year in a row. Be there to
cheer on the SHHS boys as they go for their second title in three
years!!! |
