Jr. Girls Soccer 2007

The girls soccer team moved to a 6-1 record after their 4-nil victory over John Diefenbaker. Erika Weber notched the shutout, thanks to determined defence. Goal scorers were Colleen Parks with a goal line marker assists to Christine Kaufman and Lesa Kittel, Sammy Weber on a great second effort with speed, Lesa Kittel with a booming shot from the 18 and Becky Busby nailing a free kick through their goalie.

The team played a determined game against Chesley but two early goals by the Cougars proved to be the difference as the Crusaders lost 2-1. It was a physical game with most of the 2nd half action taking place in the Chesley end and Sacred Heart hit the crossbar on one shot and had a goal called back. Good effort ladies.

The Junior Girls soccer team advanced to a 5 and 0 record by beating Peninsula Shores 5-1. Emily Meyer, Emily Kraemer, Christina Kaufman, Becky Busby, and Sammy Weber scored the goals. Excellent team play, with strong offence and defence, was demonstrated.

Sacred Heart’s Junior Girls Soccer played two determined games last week to move to a 4-0 season record. Balanced play, strong heart and some timely shots resulted in a 3-1 victory over Grey Highlands on Thursday, October 4. Goal scorers were Maddison Hawkins-Doerr, Christina Kaufman and Becky Busby with good playmaking by Colleen Parks, Lesa Kittel and Emily Kraemer.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Oct 2 a team effort resulted in a 2-0 victory over O.S.C.V.I. Strong defence, midfield and forward play earned the win. Goal scorers were Emily Meyer with a nice turnaround shot and Colleen Parks completed a nice 3-way passing play.

The Sacred Heart Junior Girls Soccer Team opened their Bluewater Athletic Association season with two victories. On Tuesday, September 25 the Crusaders defeated Saugeen District Royals by a 7-1 margin. Goal scorers were Colleen Parks and Sammy Weber with two each, and single markers by Leah Cantlon, Emily Meyer and Becky Busby. Aven Hoffarth earned the win in net.

On Thursday, Sept. 27th a great match took place between cross-town rivals Walkerton District and Sacred Heart. Both teams played well and goalies for each squad made some impressive saves to keep the match tight. Sacred Heart's Emily Meyer netted a first half goal to put the Crusaders up 1 nil at half. Walkerton tied it in the early part of the second frame and Sammy Weber notched the winner for the Crusaders to complete the 2-1 final victory for Sacred Heart. Especially strong defence for Sacred Heart was demonstrated by Emmaline Morin, Rebecca Dietrich, Becca Feeney and Renee Young, with Erika Weber backstopping the victory in net.
