Sacred Heart Girls Hockey 2006-07

Sacred Heart will defend their 2006 CWOSSA Championship on March 6/7 in Palmerston and Harriston after the Crusader Ladies captured the BAA title with a thrilling come from behind 5-4 overtime victory over St. Mary's in front of over 500 screaming fans at the Bayshore Arena in Owen Sound on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.

Michelle Kittel scored the winner on a breakaway in the 3-on-3 overtime after Becky Voisin had scored with a minute left in regulation time, with the goalie pulled. Emily Golem played a great game in net for SHHS stopping breakaways and some tough shots from St. Mary’s star players.
The girls were trailing 4-2 going into the third period but would not quit. Becky finished with 2 goals, Michelle had a goal and an assist, Steph Doerr scored on a slapshot, Jenna Weber continued her tough play around the net to score one and assist on another and assists went to Jess Busby, Colleen Parks and Kelsey Linstead.

Earlier in the playoff tournament, Sacred Heart defeated Kincardine 3-2 in the semi-finals with Katrina Grubb, Jenna Weber and Steph Doerr scoring. Earlier, the Crusaders blanked West Hill 4-0 with Michelle Kittel scoring 2, Richelle Busby and Katrina Grubb scoring the others. Michelle Grubb played excellent net in both games.

This year, the team consists of 33 girls and we have split into two teams for separate tournaments and have melded the teams for regular season games. All players have contributed to the season's success.
